In digital inkjet printing, the high-speed jetting of anti-counterfeiting ink is a decisive factor, which determines whether the textile substrate can be successfully printed. Therefore, the anti-counterfeiting ink must be carefully formulated according to the formula, so that the physical and chemical properties of the anti-counterfeiting ink used are in line with the best process parameters, ensuring effective printing operations and obtaining satisfactory printing patterns on the surface of the fabric.
The anti-counterfeiting ink formulations used for high-speed digital inkjet printing require balanced performance to ensure the best stability before the anti-counterfeiting ink is applied, so that high-speed jetting can run without obstacles. When the anti-counterfeiting ink hits the surface of the fabric, the anti-counterfeiting ink droplets should have satisfactory wetting/absorption characteristics. This can be controlled in the pre-press pretreatment of the fabric.
Obviously, the anti-counterfeiting ink formula must be suitable for a specific type of inkjet printing system, whether it is based on piezoelectric drop-on-demand (DOD) or thermal jet, or based on continuous inkjet technology. About 80% of digital inkjet printers used in textiles use piezoelectric drop-on-demand, and the rest are mainly thermal jets. Therefore, the ink in the anti-counterfeiting ink formula must be matched with the printing machine to give textiles satisfactory properties (such as color and dye fastness), to perform efficient printing at the lowest cost, and to provide corresponding services for possible technical problems.

The color performance of the dye chromophore must be very strong, because the concentration of the dye in a typical commercial printing ink is only about 10%. In piezoelectric inkjet printing, the maximum amount of anti-counterfeiting ink applied in a single channel is only about 20g/㎡, and the dye remaining on the fabric is 2g/㎡, which is compared with the dye uptake rate of 100g/㎡ of traditional screen printing , The dye left on the fabric, the latter is 5 times more than the former.
Although some manufacturers use printing heads derived from industrial digital printing machines, most inkjet printing machines still use printing heads originally designed for the printing industry because it may be more reliable under textile printing operating conditions. Piezoelectric printing heads can take into account the relationship between resolution and speed, and provide a great range of applications for the development of new inks. Using CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) color gamut is not enough for digital inkjet printing of textiles. Six colors may be used, but eight colors are usually used more.
