How to make digital printing patterns more expressive

July 13, 2021

Regardless of the type of ink, its basic composition is colorant, dispersion medium (water, organic solvent), antibacterial agent, pH adjuster, humectant, etc., for pigment ink, dispersant and binder are also necessary .

Textile Digital Printing

1. Colorants

Colorants for textile digital printing can be divided into dyes and pigments. There are also inks that use dyes and pigments mixed with colorants. It should be noted that not all traditional dyes for printing can be used as colorants for digital printing inks. The dyes for inkjet printing currently developed are mainly reactive dyes, acid dyes, and disperse dyes.

2. Antibacterial agent

Antibacterial agent X-rite504 can prevent the ink from being mildewed during storage, and prevent the ink channel in the inkjet printer from being blocked by ink mold.

3. PH regulator

One angle of PH adjuster is to prevent dye hydrolysis and ensure the stability of dye solution, and the other angle is to make the ink nearly neutral and prevent the corrosion of the nozzle and ink system of the digital printing machine. Therefore, it is generally necessary to add a suitable pH regulator to control the pH value around 8.

4. Surfactant

There are two functions of surfactants: one is to control the surface tension of the ink to adapt it to the requirements of the digital printing machine; the other is to help the dye to improve the stability of the dye solution. Surfactants generally use glycols or naphthalenesulfonic acids.

5. Moisturizer

One angle of the humectant is to prevent the nozzle ink from drying out too quickly and clogging, causing ink jet barriers, and the other angle can adjust the diffusion and penetration of the ink on the fabric.

6. Dispersant

The dispersant is especially used in pigment-based digital printing inks for the dispersion of pigments. Commonly used dispersants are polystyrene-maleic anhydride, polyacrylic acid (ester) and so on.

7. Resin

For pigment-based digital printing inks, because the pigment has no affinity for textile fibers, it is necessary to use resin binders to color textiles. Commonly used resin adhesives include polyacrylic acid, water-based polyurethane, and UV curing adhesives.

The composition of the ink is roughly divided into the above seven components. With the discovery and synthesis of new substances, the above seven components will be continuously updated. Newer substances that are more environmentally friendly and lower consumption will gradually replace the original substances to complete the optimization. Optimize production and utilization.
